Lake Fork Report 11/2010

Posted on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 in Fishing Reports
I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful fall weather as much as I am.  Last year at this time it was raining every other day but this year so far has been awesome.  Bass fishing here on Fork has been great most days to with bass on several different patterns it’s a great time to go fishing.

Last week we had a pretty strong cold front pass thru and as the front passed topwaters and spinnerbaits were working very well along main lake grass beds.  After the front passed thru there was still a good spinnerbait bite on Friday since we had a strong north wind but on Saturday the lake turned slick and we caught around 20 for the day most out of about 30 feet of water and over half the fish were over 5lbs. with the largest just under 8lbs.  Those larger fish were caught on spoons and swimbaits.  The deep water fishing should remain good for quite a while or it may even improve as the water cools.  The crappie fishing is starting to get going as well so if anyone is interested in a fall fishing trip let me know.  Hope you guys enjoy the pictures from the past few days and don’t forget I can send out Christmas Gift Certificates which make a great present.  I still have a few days open this month for bass and crappie.  Don’t hesitate to give me a call even if it’s short notice I may be open (903)780-0680.

Fall is here. Lake Fork Report 10-2010

Posted on Sunday, October 3, 2010 in Fishing Reports

Fall has finally arrived here in East Texas and I for one am glad it is here.  After an extremely hot August and warmer than normal September I am really looking forward to October and November.   This is going to be a great fall here on Lake Fork with the lake a little low and good hydriila in many places I can hardly wait.  This is probably my favorite time of year to fish with the variety of patterns that are available the great weather and beautiful fall foliage that is right around the corner you can’t hardly beat it.

Fishing has been good most days lately with most days producing 30 or more fish on a variety of baits and techniques.  For the larger bass I have been doing best along creek channels in 4-10 feet of water on jigs.  I’ve been using a light 1/4oz. jig in black/brown/amber with a matching craw and casting or flipping to the stumps along the creek, with the lake being about 2.5 feet low it makes this pattern even better.  Spinnerbaits are also working in these areas as is a Texas-rigged worm.

For just catching numbers of bass you can take a 1/4oz. rat-l-trap and go to the back of most every creek and catch plenty of fish and you will occasionally come across some big ones to.  As it continues to cool I expect the deep water fishing to improve as well.

I have some days still open this fall some give me a shout or email anytime and don’t forget I’ll start crappie trips in November.

Thanks

Lake Fork Report 7-2010

Posted on Thursday, July 8, 2010 in Fishing Reports

The dog days of summer are now upon us.  However, the past week the temperatures have been very pleasant.  The lake level is a few inches low which is a little high for this time of year but I’m sure it will fall more as the summer progresses.

Fishing has been pretty good lately.  If you like offshore fishing now is the time to come to Lake Fork.  Most of my catches lately have been in the 8-15 foot range and I’m fishing a variety of structures and most days I can catch 20-30 per day depending on the day.  Some days may be more and some days less.  Submerged roads and bridges have been best for me lately.  However, creek bends and ridges have been good as well and I even caught a few in the back of a creek along the channel last week where the hydrilla matted out to the creek channel.  As far as lure choices I’m pretty much throwing the same baits as last month.  T-rigged 8 inch Lake Fork Tackle worms in red shad and red bug and a Carolina rig with a Baby Lake Fork Creature in watermelon/red have been good producers along with a big crankbait like a DD22 in any shad color.  Another lure I’m becoming a fan of is the football jig.  I’ve been dragging a 1/2 oz and sometimes a 3/4 football jig in a pumpkin color in the same places I throw a Carolina rig.  It’s a productive way to fish and the fish aren’t seeing it as much.  I still have some availability this month so give me a shout if you are interested.

Also, I’m doing some catfish trips if anyone is interested.  Last week I had two catfish trips and had over 50 fish by lunch.  It’s a lot of fun especially if you have kids.  I have a pontoon boat that can fish up to 6 people and I will clean your cats after the day is done.  Here are some bass pictures and catfish pictures from the past few days.

Good Luck
