Fishing Report: Week of 5/13/09

Posted on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 in Fishing Reports

If you love throwing a topwater this is the month to be on Lake Fork.

Most topwater baits will work right now from rogues, propbaits, buzzbaits, popping baits, and walking baits all will work now on Lake Fork.  I prefer the Yellow Magic in the slick water on inside grasslines and along shallow weeds, on large flat areas where I want to cover a lot of water I throw a Zara Spook.

The other techniques I am using right now are shallow diving crankbaits from the Manns Minus-One to the Norman Little N all are working on windy shorelines around shallow vegetation.  Swimming a lizard in these areas is also productive especially if there are bass guarding fry.  I swim the lizard on a Texas rig with a 1/32 oz. bullet weight with a watermelon/red Grande Bass lizard.

Tuesday we had over 40 fish up to the 6lb range on all three of the techniques mentioned above.  Most of the fish I have caught in the recent days are in the post-spawn phase and on the north end of the lake, however there are still many spawning fish available on the south end of the lake in the main lake pockets.  Most of these fish can still be caught on Yellow Magics, wacky rigs, Grande Bass Rattlennakes, and Honcho worms.  Good luck and good fishing.

Here are the days I have available now thru the end of May 25-28,30,31.
