Fishing Report: May 1 2009

Posted on Friday, May 1, 2009 in Fishing Reports

This great lake and the amount of bass in it continue to amaze me. We first started having bass on beds this year as early as mid February and there are still plenty of fish on beds on the north and south end of the lake and there are still plenty of fish yet to come in to spawn.

With all that said what are the best patterns?

I say pick up your favorite shallow water technique and go for it, sooner or later you will find what you want. I lately have been catching a lot of fish on Yellow Magic topwater baits. Tuesday we had 18 fish before 9:30 up to 8.3lbs. all on topwater. Most days I have been catching 20-25 per day on the Yellow Magic along with the Grande Bass Honcho in watermelo/red and there rattlesnake in the trophy hunter pattern. Texas rigged lizards, wacky worms will also work well. My other technique that is starting to produce is the Mann’s minus one crankbait fished on shallow grass and around spawning areas where I spot bass fry and bream beds. The fishing is really good right now so if you have the chance to come down it should be worth your while.

Good luck on Lake Fork this spring. If I can be of any assistance or if you would like to book a trip call me anytime on my cell at (903)780-0680.

Here are my remaining available dates now thru May: May 10,12-14,17,20,24-28,30,31
