SPRING FISHING ON FORK 2011
–SPRING FISHING ON FORK–
It’s finally here. Spring on Lake Fork has finally arrived and great fishing has been going on for several weeks now and is getting better. As I write this report on March 15 we are a few days away from a full moon which means a huge wave of fish should hit the banks in the next few days for spawning activities. Today I saw several fish on beds in 57 degree water and we have a forecast of 80 degree days coming up so the next few weeks should be great. This past Sunday we had our first Share-A-Lunker bass caught and she weighed 14.25 lbs. and was caught on a lizard and there could be more caught this week with the full moon coming.
Fishing has been pretty good most days depending on weather. Most days I have been catching 15-25 per day with usually several in the 6 lb range being common. Lately most bass for me have come from the main lake on suspending jerkbaits. Normally I throw the chrome/blue on sunny days and gold/black on cloudy days. The whole key to the jerkbait is finding the key depth and retrieve speed. Most of the time a 3 twitch and about a 10 second pause is the best technique but you just never know. Sometimes they want you to move it very aggressive and that will trigger a reaction strike.
Other techniques are working as well. Spinnerbaits and lizards are also working in the creeks especially in the more stained water. Most of the creeks are very dirty now since we have no hydrilla to filter out the water.
I have no availability left in March but in April I have the 4th and 28th still open. May is pretty full but here are the May dates I currently have available. May 1,5,6,8,9,15,16,17,20,23,24,25,26,29 and June is fairly open right now to. If I can be of any help call me anytime at (903)780-0680. By the way I still have my 2010 Skeeter FX for sale for what I feel is a good price. This boat needs to sell ASAP.
