Fall is here. Lake Fork Report 10-2010
Posted on Sunday, October 3, 2010 in Fishing Reports
Fall has finally arrived here in East Texas and I for one am glad it is here. After an extremely hot August and warmer than normal September I am really looking forward to October and November. This is going to be a great fall here on Lake Fork with the lake a little low and good hydriila in many places I can hardly wait. This is probably my favorite time of year to fish with the variety of patterns that are available the great weather and beautiful fall foliage that is right around the corner you can’t hardly beat it.
Fishing has been good most days lately with most days producing 30 or more fish on a variety of baits and techniques. For the larger bass I have been doing best along creek channels in 4-10 feet of water on jigs. I’ve been using a light 1/4oz. jig in black/brown/amber with a matching craw and casting or flipping to the stumps along the creek, with the lake being about 2.5 feet low it makes this pattern even better. Spinnerbaits are also working in these areas as is a Texas-rigged worm.
For just catching numbers of bass you can take a 1/4oz. rat-l-trap and go to the back of most every creek and catch plenty of fish and you will occasionally come across some big ones to. As it continues to cool I expect the deep water fishing to improve as well.
I have some days still open this fall some give me a shout or email anytime and don’t forget I’ll start crappie trips in November.
